PixShed publishes free image tools and plain-language guides covering image compression, conversion, resizing, and background removal. This page explains who builds and maintains that content, how we research and check it, and the standards we hold ourselves to.

Who is behind PixShed

PixShed is built and operated by Express Services Group, a company based in Fresno, California. The same team builds the tools, writes the guides, and answers when a reader reports a problem. Content is produced by the Express Services Group Editorial Team and published under our own name — not by anonymous freelancers, and not copied from elsewhere.

How we build our tools and guides

Every tool runs entirely in your browser using standard image-processing libraries — the files you open are processed on your own device and are never uploaded to a server. Our guides start from the real questions people ask about working with images — shrinking a photo under an email limit, converting between formats, removing a background — and answer them in concrete, step-by-step terms rather than vague filler.

How we review and keep it current

Everything we publish is reviewed against one standard: is this genuinely useful and accurate for the person who searched for it? Pages that would exist only to chase search traffic do not get published. We revisit guides when browsers, formats, or the platforms people export to change the steps that actually work. Each guide shows when it was published and when it was last reviewed.

Our sources

We rely on primary sources wherever possible: the published specifications for image formats (PNG, JPEG, WebP, AVIF), browser and codec documentation, and the stated file-size limits of the platforms people export to — email providers, social networks, and marketplaces. Where a figure is a typical value rather than a hard rule, we say so.

Editorial independence

PixShed is free to use and supported by modest display advertising. Advertisers have no say over our tools, our guides, or the guidance in them, and we do not tailor content to any advertiser.

A note on results

This guide is for general informational purposes. Our tools run entirely in your browser and process files on your device, so exact results depend on your image, browser, and the settings you choose. Our tools and guides are practical aids, not a guarantee of a specific outcome for every file or device.
